| The Action
- Initial Plans Khao
Lak
Many guests who
stayed at our La Flora resort in Khao Lak have
contacted us and asked how they can help and looking
for an honest and reliable method of donating
to help the families of the resort in which they
stayed and the Community in Khao Lak as a whole.
Fourteen members
of our staff perished in the Tsunami and as a
priority financial assistance will be offered
to the surviving members of the families that
require such support. Scholarships for schooling
will be provided to eligible children of these
families.
At the same time
research is being conducted to develop positive
projects that can breath new life into the location.
One project presently being researched is based
on the Shinta Mani model created in Siem Reap,
Cambodia, where a small profitable boutique resort
funds a not for profit vocational training institute
for training the local community.
Sri Lanka
Through our network
of Associates and hotel industry professionals,
we have been made aware of several grass root
programs assisting the communities in Sri Lanka.
A visit is planned to Sri Lanka in April 2005
to conduct a fact finding mission to link with
these projects and programs to support local community
efforts.
Cambodia
We will continue
to support the work being carried out by the management
team of Shinta Mani in Siem Reap, Cambodia by
providing donations to support the vocational
training institute and other charitable organizations
as funds allow.
Indonesia
We will continue
to support the work carried out by The Sumba Foundation
in creating Clinics, Schools and in the eradication
of Malaria on the Island of Sumba. In addition
and as funding allows we will research the creation
of a Vocational Training Institute for the Islanders.
